Description

I had to deliver some stuff at a friend's house yesterday, and since I knew he lived 4 floors high from a previous time, I decided to bring along my camera and tripod in order to shoot a panorama from his balcony. The first panorama I've shot with my new camera, and I'm quite happy with the outcome.

The big building on the right side of the image once was a flour factory, now it's standing there abandoned, waiting to be turned into student apartments. The white tower you see just right from the middle is the Zijlpoort.

The total panorama is build out of 13 shots stitched together using Autostitch, and is an amazing 22.857x2579 pixels, having a file size of 52 MB. The final PSD from editing is 449 MB. The version used for uploading has been a downscale to 35% of the original, making it 8000x903 pixels.

I think that this work is most assuredly a proof of concept for you but lacking in particular interest. Your friend does have a good view of the city from his apartment, but I just didn't find it interesting. There isn't anything in particular that I'm drawn to in the picture but from the description you put up, you are familiar with the equipment required for this type of shot. There is a strong horizon problem on the right side of the image that I feel could have been fixed if you used the native Photomerge feature of Photoshop CS5.

I'm not trying to bash you for your work, but point out a few things that will hopefully help you to make the most of a shoot when you ARE in a place with a stunning view.
